December Challenge-Not Just Paper

Postby thecraftaholic on Mon Dec 06, 2010 11:14 am

Hi, I'm the Craftaholic, and Ms. December!
This month's challenge is called, "Not Just Paper", and is lots of fun!

So this challenge means you don't stamp on paper. Don't do it! Find other things to stamp on!

What can you stamp on? Use your noggin, and you'll find something!
Here's my idea-I stamped on some white clay!
Actually, it's a sort of paper clay that self hardens, AND can be baked in the oven, which is what I did.
Then, it was stamped and painted with my own homemade version of twinkling H2Os.

You like it?
I hope you do! Now, I have to get off the computer, as my little one is battling me for it!

Oooh. Cool. You've inspired me to try to find my paper clay and give it a go.

So, home made Twinkling H20s? Do tell!

thanks, ladies! I'm going to post a proper tutorial this week, I think.
But the twinkling H2Os are EASY to make! There's a tutorial on youtube, but what I did was get a couple of empty lip gloss containers and squirt some watercolor paint in there, with some pearl ex powder, or perfect pearls.
then on the youtube video, she uses some kind of glue or something that is really expensive so i just mixed a TINY little bit of mod podge, because i've got a huge tub of that stuff.
that's it! Mix it with a chop stick.
Then, just use it like you do any watercolor paint. It's SO cool, and easy to make.

Here is my little ole entry:
Lil-Bombshell-2.jpg
Little Bombshell 1

Now on first look you may say - hey that looks like paper, and you cut it out with a Nestie and colored it and all... but then you missed the little part

Yes - I did them on Shrink Plastic. :D :D :D

Little Bombshell with the big ole stamp.

I made a few. I had such a fun time shrinking them with my heat gun. I was cackling the whole time. My husband was laughing at me.

Lil-Bombshells-3.jpg
Three Little Bombshells sitting in my house!

All three were stamped on shrink plastic with Memento, and then cut out (sort of)... and colored with Copics. The cool thing, they shrank so much I didn't have to worry about shading, so the coloring was super fast. On the Hula Bombshell I cut out with a Nestie, and then airbrushed blue around her. I also Stamped and colored her on BOTH sides of the plastic. So after I shrank it (and flattened it while it was hot), I let it cool and then used silver Stickles all around the edge.

Thank you for the challenge and getting me to jump outside my safe zone!
